Now that your dog understands the basics of scentwork games, we will increase the challenges to create more exciting hides. In this class we will introduce and progress the elements of Interior, Exterior, Vehicle, Container and Buried hides. We will work on dog/handler communication, how to support our dogs as handlers and how to be purposeful when setting up searches. At the end of this class you will have the fundamental knowledge to practice for your first novice level scentwork trial or have many creative options for playing scentwork games at home for fun.

Prerequisites:

  • Participation in a Beginning Scentwork Class

  • Dogs on odor for Birch

  • Proof of current vaccinations

  • Dogs must be at least 6 months of age

  • Dogs must be able to be confined quietly while other dogs work—dogs may be covered in the crate inside the building or may be crated from the vehicle in the parking lot.
